What You Get for the Money

I'm an "old school" photographer.  My photo education began in the time that black and white was King and silver (a necessary ingredient in developing bw photos) was diminishing in supply.  I still crave the scent of a darkroom!  I grew up with film and switched to digital only a few years ago, when Nikon finally came out with the D70.  Film has so much to do with the way I view photography:  Get the shot right in the first place.  That's my goal, and that's why you will get your photos in a timely manner.  I'll do the glamour shots if you want them, but I prefer to shoot cats in action (if we can get them to move!).  You can also bet that my sense of humor and suppressed desire for The Cute will impact your photos!  I believe the combination of my photographic education and my love for all things computer make me a competitive photographer in the cat show world.

Show Photographs:  $50    A CD of all viable photos (including necessary Adobe enhancements, including our signature) will be delivered to you within one week.  There is no limit on the number of photos taken during your half-hour sitting.  We prefer to deal only with digital images.  If you would like prints there will be an extra charge, and will take a bit longer: Four weeks after your selection.

Cattery Shoots:  $200 plus travel expenses (motel and transportation).  We will come to your cattery on a weekend with our portable studio and photograph up to 20 cats.

The Eyes Behind the Lens:  Bobbi Jean

Bobbi Jean Fickle Pratt has been a photographer for most of her life.  Her passion for photography ranks just a smidgeon below her love for writing.  Her first photography lesson happened before she was two years old.  Her father was an accomplished photographer in college, and Bobbi Jean wanted to be just like her daddy!  She studied photography in 4-H with her Kodak Instamatic camera and later in college with her Minolta SLR.  Her images won many blue ribbons at county fairs and praise from instructors.  Photography was her first major in college, although she finally graduated with a degree in linguistics.

Her professional credits include a rock album cover and wildlife/landscape photography.  She is also working on a book that includes her poetry, painting and photography.  Her passion is capturing the light, color and images found in nature.  She has been photographing her own cats for years and waiting for Nikon to make the right camera before plunging into the world of digital photography.

After her cats bought her that coveted Nikon camera for Christmas of 2004 (selling their children to finance it and getting daddy Spencer to do the buying), she considered the urgings of her friends to get into professional cat photography.  Her specialty is capturing action.

The Eyes Behind the Lens:  Spencer

Spencer Pratt has been an amateur photographer for many years.

He became Bobbi Jean's honey-look-camera before she got her digital Nikon.  Not wanting to waste film, but seeing an image that could be captured and manipulated with a computer, she would say, "Honey, look!"  and he would take the photo with his digital camera.

He sometimes gets to take the camera during photo shoots, and he gets many fine shots.

Spencer is the technical wizard in the family as well, although he leaves the Photoshop work to Bobbi Jean.
